How I Registered for the TOPIK Exam

안녕하세요~!

As I prepare for the upcoming TOPIK exam, I want to share the process of how I registered for the exam. This guide will help those of you who are planning to take the TOPIK exam in the future. Let me share my experience and some important tips for a smooth registration.

Actually, I couldn’t register on the first day as I was working outside that day. Knowing that TOPIK registration operates on a first-come, first-served basis, I checked the registration site every day. Unfortunately, I didn’t have any luck until the last day, which was May 27th. On that day, I quickly registered when I saw openings! Pheww!

Let me show you some of the steps to register!

Steps to Register:

Before D-Day:

1. Visit the Official TOPIK Website

First, navigate to the official TOPIK website (http://www.topik.go.kr).

2. Create an Account

If you don’t already have an account, click on the “Sign Up” button and fill in your details. Make sure to use a valid email address, as you’ll need it for verification. Creating an account ahead of time is really gonna help you save time.

3. Fill Out Your Information

Once your account is created and verified, log in and fill out all necessary personal information. This includes your name, date of birth, nationality, and contact details. Having this information ready will save you valuable time on the registration day.

4. Prepare a Photo

Prepare a recent ID photo that meets the TOPIK requirements. The photo should be 3.5cm x 4.5cm, in jpg or jpeg format, and no larger than 200kb. The photo must have a white background and be taken within the last 6 months. This photo will appear on your test admission ticket and score certificate, so ensure it meets all specifications.

Before you upload the ID photo you prepared earlier, ensure your photo meets all the criteria.

On D-Day

1. Log In Early

On the registration day, log in to the TOPIK website early. Registration operates on a first-come, first-served basis, so being prompt is essential. 10 minutes earlier is the best!

2. Go to the Registration Page

After logging in, choose if you are registering for TOPIK I or TOPIK II, you’ll see the test date and which round of exam you'll be taking.

This is the screenshot of the registration page once you logged in. I have mine in Korean but you can easily change to the language you prefered. 시험 접수 means test registration. As for me, this is the one that I'll be taking, which will be the 95th, TOPIK II.

This page is where you choose your exam centres where you take your test. You can choose anywhere you prefer, but please, do some research beforehand so you won't waste any seconds. Cause you know, you have to be faster than others!

In my case, you can see all the exam centres were already filled up when I logged on. 마감 means they are closed due to unavailability. I tried everyday until the last day and I got this page!

3. Proceed to Payment

Proceed to the payment section. The registration fee can be paid via credit card or Korean bank transfer. If you can't pay immediately, you can opt for the 무통장입금 (bank transfer without an account) option and go to the nearest ATM in Korea, and do the deposit! Or if you are currently overseas, ask someone who is in Korea to pay for you.

**You can also ask me for help, but with a service charge!

👇 If you choose 무통장입금 (Bank Transfer Without an Account):

At the [Payment] stage, select virtual account (가상계좌), verify the account information to receive a refund, and click 'Pay'.

You can check the issued virtual account number by clicking the 'Check Virtual Account' button in [My Page] > [Registration Status] > Payment Status.

You can find the virtual account number through the selected method (SMS or email).

Please note that: Overseas remittance is not possible.

4. Confirmation

Once the payment is completed, you’ll receive a confirmation email. Keep this email safe, as it contains important details about your test.
